Green Corner by Eventsost in Evento Days 2016

On July 6-7, Evento Days, the most important gathering for professionals in the event industry seeking the latest sector trends, returns.

Once again, Eventsost will be the sustainability partner for Evento Days and will develop the Green Corner, a 60 m² "connect" zone where event professionals can engage with the latest trends in sustainability applied to events. Eventsost will provide a dedicated training area (with lectures, roundtables, etc.) and an exhibition area where exhibitors will showcase products or services that can enhance event sustainability.

Additionally, Eventsost will measure the carbon emissions of Evento Days and help Eventoplus offset them through solidarity and cooperation projects. One of the factors that made the Green Corner one of the most visited areas at Evento Days 2015 was the sustainability training program that ran alongside the space. In this regard, Eventsost has not only doubled the Green Corner's space but has also scheduled high-level sessions.

CSR Applied to Events, a Major Focus of Green Corner 2016

This year, there will be a strong emphasis on corporate social responsibility (CSR) applied to events. We will hear from Ana Gascón, Director of Corporate Responsibility at Coca-Cola, who will explain how the Gira Jóvenes project has successfully promoted job inclusion in events for young people at risk of social exclusion. Similarly, Marta Ripollés, Deputy Director of the special employment center PRODIS, will discuss the employment opportunities that events offer to young people with intellectual disabilities.

We will also learn about the conceptualization and production of social and CSR events from Antonio Mateo Santana of The Helping by Doing Foundation, and the team from the Chomandos association: "Beyond the Adventure," who will provide ideas for CSR projects where we can develop our events.

Sharing Experience in Events: A Key Aspect of the Green Corner's Training Plan

Since the inception of the Green Corner, Eventsost has placed great importance on having companies that have implemented sustainability actions in events share and showcase their experiences with others. As a result, several sessions have been scheduled around this theme. On one hand, we will hear about the experiences of Barceló Congresos in implementing their sustainability strategy for events. Additionally, the event and incentive managers from REPSOL will discuss how sustainability has evolved in their company's internal events.

Sessions and Exhibitors at the Green Corner Focused on Event Sustainability

A session specifically designed for event suppliers has been scheduled under the title “Agencies Speak: What Can and Should Suppliers Contribute in Terms of Event Sustainability?” In this session, Patricia Ramos from EVENTISIMO, David Funollet from UNIT ELEMENT, Estrella Díaz from STAFF EVENTOS, and Oscar Fanlo from JMT Ambiplan will discuss the sustainability requirements that agencies need to incorporate into their events and the role suppliers should play in implementing sustainable actions.

Francisco Hortigüela, Marketing Director at Samsung Electronics, and Paz Nachón, Sustainability Director at Accenture, will explain how CSR is integrated into companies' communication and marketing strategies and its application to events.

Ivana Carasa from the NGO Nutrición sin Fronteras will discuss what can be done with leftover food from events, specifically sharing the organization’s experience with food rescue at the Mobile World Congress.

Emerging Trends at the Green Corner

Alberto Gómez, Director of Eventsost, will explain why sustainability certification in the event industry is becoming increasingly popular and is transitioning from a mere trend to a "must" for agencies, venues, and event suppliers.

Additionally, the topic of accessibility for people with special needs at events will be addressed in a session led by Javier Aguado (Protocol Coordinator at ONCE) and Julià Montero (Ideamaker at Barcelona Zero Limits), moderated by Stefano Velasco (Re-Inspira). They will provide guidance on when and how to plan actions that facilitate accessibility for people with special needs at events.

Emilio Molero (Diputación de Jaén) and Santiago Molina (Instituto Superior de Medio Ambiente) will explore the options that natural spaces offer for hosting more sustainable events and incentives, as well as the precautions to consider when organizing events in these locations.

Learn and Discover

In the expanded exhibitor area for this year’s Green Corner edition, we will have:

  • The non-profit association Chomandos, offering solidarity projects for CSR events.
  • Cartóncartón, providing cardboard solutions for event staging, decoration, and props.
  • SERVIS, showcasing their NeoWall technology for custom stand construction without waste.
  • EVENTSOST, offering advice on certifications for event sector companies (agencies, suppliers, venues, products, etc.).
  • Jaén Turismo, the sponsor of the Green Corner, presenting Jaén's natural spaces and oil culture venues as unique locations for organizing all types of events.
  • The PRODIS Foundation, displaying products made and services provided by individuals with intellectual disabilities, which can be used in events.
  • Madre Tierra Catering, a catering service where sustainability is an integral part of the company’s DNA.

These exhibitors will once again help us identify more sustainable solutions to apply to our events.

Parallel Activities to Foster Continuous Networking and Exchange

The Green Corner is designed as a networking space for industry professionals looking to collaborate or enhance their expertise in event sustainability. This year, Eventsost will set up a bar where Green Corner exhibitors can meet with their contacts, further increasing their level of interconnection in the sector. It’s worth noting that Eventsost was created with the goal of becoming a network of companies and institutions interested in and committed to sustainability in events.

Additionally, a series of parallel activities has been scheduled to encourage interaction in the “networking zone,” including extra virgin olive oil tastings, live showcooking with renowned Jaén chef Manu Frutos (Dixtinto restaurant), an eco-magician entertaining attendees with ecological magic, DJs, and the Green Corner’s afterwork party: “Soul & Green Party with Tapas from Jaén,” where we will enjoy a luxurious end to the fair with the best networking and food, accompanied by the band Imperfecta Soul.

Will you miss it?
