On November 27th, Zaragoza Congresos held a workshop titled “How to Highlight and Include Sustainability in Commercial Proposals for Events,” aimed at training its members in sustainability strategies for their commercial proposals and bids for corporate events and congresses.
The workshop was led by Alberto Gómez, coordinator of Eventsost. In the first part, he described the current context of sustainability in the MICE industry, emphasizing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the circular economy, and the legacy of events. Alberto Gómez then outlined the key strategies for designing sustainable proposals tailored to different types of companies, including agencies, OPCs, catering, staffing, audiovisuals, venues, and accommodations.
According to Alberto Gómez, the value of implementing sustainability plans for corporate events, as well as attracting significant events to Zaragoza, will be crucial for the commercial and strategic positioning of both the destination and the MICE companies involved as the industry resurges post-pandemic.
Gómez stressed that it's essential to go beyond a standard slide at the end of a proposal. The key to success lies in personalizing a sustainability plan or program tailored to each specific event.
In line with this sustainability strategy, Zaragoza Congresos has become the first bureau to implement the Eventsost KEY platform. This tool enables their team to create sustainability plans for bids and design custom sustainability strategies for their members' events, adhering to sustainability criteria and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals.
With this platform, Zaragoza Congresos now offers a sustainability plan configurator for events, a carbon footprint calculator, a database of more sustainable resources, suppliers, and solutions for events, and a dashboard for managing MICE sustainability indicators, all benefiting Zaragoza and its MICE industry.
By taking this step, Zaragoza Congresos, which holds the Eventsost Sustainable Commitment seal, leverages sustainability in its commercial proposals and those of its members.
